Now Peele and Universal have debuted the first new trailer ahead of its Super Bowl debut. The video is heavy in scope and light in plot as it introduces the characters of Palmer and Kaluuya, who somehow appear to be ranchers. The new trailer has a decidedly western aesthetic, showing Palmer’s character as the descendant of prominent Black Hollywood horse trainers. Like the teaser, the new trailer reveals very little about the film’s plot. Initially, Palmer’s character is supposed to be the ancestor of Hollywood horse trainers and Kaluuya’s character is somehow involved. From there, the ranch where they work is introduced and, unsurprisingly, it seems very strange. From the appearance of aliens to the inflatable tubemen lining the dirt road, it’s clear that the ranch in the new trailer is not a safe place to be.

While the new trailer seems to indicate aliens could be involved, Peele is known for his twisty plots, so there’s no telling what the actual movie has in store for the public. Like the tied in U.S, there is certainly more than meets the eye in the actual movie. This is made clear in the final moments when Palmer’s character is seemingly kidnapped by something in the sky, recalling the first poster for new, which radiates a cloud with a tail of flags hanging over a brightly lit city. This image can be seen briefly in the video, but the origin of this mysterious cloud remian is unclear. With a July 2022 release date, the new trailer is the first of many reveals for Peele’s U.S follow up and it looks like it will only further cement him as one of the greatest horror directors working today.
