Roku unveils the RENO 911! Debunked trailer with a surprise cameo of Jamie Lee Curtis as an officer of a neighboring sheriff’s office.
Roku reveals the RENO 911! refunded trailer featuring a surprising cameo from Jamie Lee Curtis as an officer of a neighboring sheriff’s office. Created by and starring Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant and Kerri Kenney-Silver, the series serves as a mockumentary-esque parody of other police documentaries, namely those of Police, and revolves around the dysfunctional titular officers of the Nevada Sheriff’s Department. In addition to Lennon, Garant and Kenney-Silver, the cast for RENO 911! is led by Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Niecy Nash, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Mary Birdsong and Ian Roberts.
RENO 911! first premiered on Comedy Central in 2003, it ran for six well-received seasons before being initially canceled by the network. The comedy would later revive in 2019 when the creators teamed up with the then-in-development streaming platform Quibi for season 7 and then renewed for season 8. After Quibi’s shutdown, all rights to the new episodes were acquired by The Roku Channel, while Paramount+ would give the green light to the movie special RENO 911!: The Hunt for QAnonwhich premiered last December.
On the heels of the latest movie episode arriving on Paramount+, Roku revealed the first RENO 911! refunded trailer. The video offers a look at the latest series of episodes of the long-running police comedy, returning to the 30-minute format, and some of the guest stars who will be appearing in the new episodes, including a surprise cameo from Jamie Lee Curtis.
As seen in the trailer, RENO 911! refunded sees the fan-favorite Sheriff’s Department struggle after running out of money, looking for new ways to make some cash while keeping the city from erupting into chaos. The trailer for the new series of episodes should provide an exciting look at the mayhem to come from the series as it explores a key area of discussion the country is currently experiencing through their humorous lens. The recent movie special, RENO 911! The hunt for QAnonsimilarly saw the creatives of the hit series tackle the far-right political group on a bombastic cruise ship mission.
Curtis’ surprising cameo in RENO 911! refunded is not the only major guest star audiences can expect to see in the new series of episodes of the long-running comedy starring George Lopez and Weird Al Yankovich, the former of whom guest-starred as the mayor of Reno in the show’s season 5. The trio joins the ensemble of artists who have made guest appearances on RENO 911! in the past, some of whom are Zach Galifianakis, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman. Only time will tell which other guest stars can appear in the new episodes when RENO 911! refunded premieres on Roku on February 25.
