1. BTS:
BTS is the firs K-pop group who performed at the Amerian Music Awards and won a Billboard Music Award and the first south korean act to reach 10 million followers on Twitter. BTS is also known as Bangtan Boys and Beyond The Scene. BTS is also known as the most tweeted about celebraty in 2017. Even they were liked and retweeted more than a half a billion times worldwide. The band BTS is consists of seven members, V, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Jin and Jungkook. Their managing agency is Big Hit.
2. Miss A:
This four-member Korean and Chinese group was created by JYP Entertainment with the Chinese market in mind. Miss A released their first single “Bad Girl Good Girl” in 2010. After that Miss A released their second music video called “Breathe”, which did really well and also topped the chart. Suzy is the group’s leader, she also appeared in Dream High in 2011 and Gu Family Book in 201. Fei and Jia continue their TV series and also in advertising projects.
3. Psy:
Park Jae sang also known as Psy his music video “Gangnam Style” made every people’s favorite when it released in 2012. Psy’s debut album was Psy from Psycho world which was released in 2001. Psy is loved by people for his techno rap and funky dance moves. The song “Gangnam Style” was a life-changing song for him which gave him opportunities to collaborate with Hollywood stars. Psy is also the first star from another country to perform at the traditional all Chinese event.
4. Big Bang:
Big Bang consists of five members and everyone is male. They are T.O.P. (Choi Seung-Hyun), Taeyang (Dong Young-Bae), G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-Yong), leader), Daesung (Kang Dae-Sung), and Seungri (Lee Seung-Hyun). Big Bang band is very famous for their dynamic in the rap which G dragon and T.O.P do and their over the top fashion sense. G dragon a versatile rapper who took him to sing with Missy Eliot in London. Taeyang joined YG entertainment when he was 11. They wanted to market G dragon and Taeyang but then YG entertainment made a larger group with the other 3 members. Big Bang’s “Bang Bang Bang” was released in 2015. They won the MNet Asian Award “Song of The Year”.
5. Girl’s Generation:
Girl’s Generation is a nine membered all-female group which is called Sonyeo Sidae in Korea. Girl’s Generation debuted in 2007 since then they are enjoying immense popularity. in 2009 Girl’s Generation released “Gee”, which is a Japanese debuted album of Girl’s Generation and became the biggest seller in 2011. Girl’s Generation appeared on Late Night With David Letterman in 2012 and became The New York’s K Pop focus. Girl’s Generation also won YouTube Video of the Year in 2013.
6. EXO:
EXO is SM Entertainment’s first-ever Korean Chinse all-male boy band. While EXO k focuses on the Korean market EXO M focuses on the Chinese market. Both are doing great in both countries. EXO released a song “XOXO” in the year 2013 which took the number one spot in the Billboard’s World Music chart. EXO is a very popular boy band on the global level.
7. Wonder Girls:
Wonder Girls is an all-female group which was debuted in the year 2007 but did not gain much appreciation but when Wonder Girls released “Tell Me” it became popular. Their dance moves and the catchy tune made the number one spot on Korea’s music charts. Their song “Nobody” which was 1960s style gave them an opportunity to perform an English version on their American tour in 2009. That song also made it onto Billboard’s Hot 100 singles. in the year 2010 Wonder Girls entered the Chinese market.
8. Rain:
Bong Jung Ji Hoon, Rain was the first K Popstar that made it onto the western scene. Rain also stared in Ninja Assassin in 2009 and speed Racer in 2008 and both are from Hollywood. The rain was voted as the “100 People Who Shape Our World” by TIME Magazine in 2007. Rain love to dance he joined JYP entertainment after the art of dance auditions and debuted in the year 2002 with Bad Guy. The rain got fame when he released his third album and his role in the Korean Drama Full House.
9. BoA:
Kwon Bo Ah AKA BoA was chosen by SM Entertainment when she was only 11 years old. BoA released her first album “ID Peace B” at the age of 13. BoA sent to live in Japan and got immense popularity. BoA’s first Japanese album was “Listen to My Heart” which made her first Korean to debut at the top of the Oricon chart. BoA also released an English album “BoA” in 2009 which gave her a role in Making Your Move in 2013.
10. Monsta X:
Monsta X formed through the TV talent show “No Mercy”. Monsta X debuted in the year 2015 by releasing their first album “Trespass”. It didn’t take much time to take over North America. Monsta X consists of seven all-male boy bands, are Minhyuk, Shownu, Wonho, Hyungwon, Kihyun, Joohoney, and I.M. Monsta X released “The clan” which is their first full-length studio album took the number one spot on Billboard’s World album in the US.
