On Disney’s Investor day, Marvel Studios released the trailer of “What If…?” In which we saw alternate verses of MCU. More What If’s questions will be answered in the summer of 2021.
What If…? sounds so familiar, wanna know why? because the series “What If…?” is derived concept from Marvel comic book published “What If Spiderman Joined the Fantastic Four?” in 1977. If Spiderman joined Fantastic four it would have become Fantastic five. It doesn’t end happily though. So MCU also playing with the same idea by making its own TV series.
Another thing that is similar here is The Watcher who has the narrator role. In the original What If…? comics, the Watcher was the Crypt Keeper without the puns – he’d set the story up, and then it would go from there. The Watcher’s voice was given by Jeffrey Wright.
We saw glims of the first episode that what if the super-soldier serum was taken by Peggy Carter instead of Steve Rogers, she would become a Shield carrier. Now we have captain Britain instead of having captain America. Speaking of Captain America he becomes a scary zombie kind of creature. And Peggy was riding on the back of possibly Iron man’s back. What If Yondu took T’Challa instead of Peter Quill? T’Challa would have become Star-Lord instead of Black Panther.
The first season of What If…? is going to have 10 episodes. It would be a very fun and mindblowing experience for the viewers as they will get to see their favorite character in the animated version. They also confirmed that they will have its season 2 also which is in progress. It is going to be a new experience of watching every known character into different roles, villains becoming heroes and heroes becoming villains.
