This surname is of German, Anglo-Saxon, and French origins. It derives from an ancient word ‘driffan’, through the later French ‘drevere’ and as a surname in the spellings of Driver, Drever, Dryver, and Dreverman, it is an occupational surname for a transport contractor, a driver of horse or oxen teams.

Drevers are less expensive to purchase than many other dog breeds. The price to purchase one from a breeder is normally between $600 and $800.

dog The Drever or Swedish Dachsbracke is a purebred dog developed for hunting deer and for other games in Sweden’s early twentieth century. This dog breed is a descendant of the Westphalian Dachsbracke, a German hound known as Bracke.

This breed is an average shedder. Hypoallergenic: NoSpecific health problems or claims of extraordinary health have not been documented for this breed. According to the breed standard, the Drever should be alert and self-possessed, with an affable, even temperament, and should not be aggressive or shy.

They are very loving and affectionate to their owners and can make excellent companions. With proper training and socialization, they can be friendly to strangers and people outside of the family. The Drever is suited for all sizes of families and households and gets along well with children.

We weren’t able to find any Drevers available for adoption through rescues or shelters throughout the country. In fact, the dogs are rare outside of Sweden, and the breed isn’t listed on many adoption websites. If your heart is set on getting a Drever soon, you’ll probably need to contact a breeder.
